I love this house and I'm going to love it more when we get our own stuff in here. Right now we have some loaner furniture (just the basics) and it's all good, but the floors are tile and we have no carpets yet. It echoes like crazy and the kids have nothing to keep them occupied. I don't want them on the computer all the time and we don't have any cool toys for them to play with. So, because of all this, they were running around the place and wrestling and screaming. Boy oh boy, was I beside myself. I was trying to cook and Bogie's on the computer looking up different car options. I asked, "Can you be like most fathers and entertain the children while I'm cooking the family a meal?" He laughed at me. Not in a bad way, and it was a funny question. I felt like I turned into a suburban mom. Back home in Chicago, the kids playing around didn't phase me (well, most of the time) I'm used the monkeying around and the wrestling, but when every other minute the kids are crying from getting hurt on the tile floor or screaming because Matthew is chasing them, magnified by the echo... well, you get the picture. I find I'm asking myself, "What am I going to do to keep these kids occupied?" I haven't figured that out yet, but I better get a move on quick. Any more of this, and I'm going to start screaming. :)
Do you need a good play-doh recipe? They can help you make it and then they can play with it! And, if you make the edible kind, they can EAT it when they're done with all that! That should keep them occupied for at least 45 minutes! :)
ReplyDeleteKool-Aid Play Dough

...1 cup water

Mix dry ingredients together in a large saucepan. Slowly add water mixed with oil and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens to dough. Turn out onto a heatproof bread board or counter top and knead until cool enough for children to handle. Dough will be the color of the Kool-Aid mix and will smell like the Kool-Aid mix.
