Wow, what a difference a day makes after getting some actual horizontal sleep! I'm loving the people here. They have taken us around, helped us shop to settle in and then invited us to join them on a trip with a bunch of other families to the seaside over the Labor Day Weekend. It's like a big new family I've got here.
One of our new friends even offered to babysit for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Wow, it's so overwhelming how welcome I feel. Yay!
We recently found out we have connections to another couple who are doing youth ministry here on base. We haven't met them yet, but plan on meeting them within the next few days. We got the connection through a friend from Chicago. Yay!
After today, I have great hope for a smooth transition. Praise be to God for His awesomeness and His loving kindness. I feel like the transition time will be a good one and that I can retain my joy and spread that joy around to the people here. At least I hope so. :)
Another praise, I was told there's a farmers market on Sunday and Thursday where can buy a full bag of fresh produce (high quality) for about $5. I'm excited to experience it and meet some local people.
We also found out that it could be relatively inexpensive to visit Germany at Christmas time so we may do that. Yay! It's getting exciting over here that's for sure!
hi
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you made it! Good job starting your blog, too - way to follow through! I feel you with the newness and homesickness and "WHY AM I HERE"-ness. But you'll grow to love it, I bet, and God will show you again and again why you are there. Lots of love from the US!
ReplyDeleteYeah for Germany at Christmas time :o). In some areas you will be surprised to see a lot of Turks as well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it safely and praying that you will adjust well!
